On Friday, March 20 Scout & Molly’s of Park Avenue made a live appearance on NBC-WESH2’s Orlando My Way morning show.
You can see the segment on the Scout & Molly’s Park Ave Facebook page.
Appearing on the show was only the “cherry on top” as preparations included so much more. We spent a busy couple weeks looking through incoming inventory and designers to see what our models should showcase. A pre-fitting session helped us make the final cuts, and we paired the clothing with accessories so that each model looked and felt fantastic and we all looked great together.
We selected designers that represent a range of styles but that also let us feature some brands that are known favorites and some that are emerging or newer brands. We also had a chance to bring in some that have Florida connections.
The models are all ladies who have busy professional careers and personal lives but who are also linked to Scout & Molly’s owner Liz through their membership in or connection to a member of the nonprofit Central Florida Women’s League, an organization that supports and serves community-based nonprofits and charities as well as administers a perpetual scholarship program for deserving college-going students from Orlando-area high schools. Read more about the League’s activities.
- Liz (seated with show host Kayla Becker) is wearing a blue silk dress with white jellyfish pattern from Palm Beach-based Lauren Gold. We first found Lauren’s designs while shopping in Delray Beach and expect to have a lot of this preppy resort wear line in store. Bright colors, prints, cottons and silks are emblematic of the brand. Liz’s earrings are small, gold-plated woven basket tops from Raleigh, NC-based Mollybeads. Molly attended grades 7-12 at Trinity Prep in our own Winter Park, FL. (Expect to see her at an in-store trunk show in the coming months.) Liz’s clutch is from Savannah-based Satchel, a gorgeous studio/store space on Liberty Street where all pieces are made on-site by the store’s three designers.
- Melanie (first model) is wearing a black Nanette Lepore sheath of a fabric weight and neckline detail we all adored. NYC-based Nanette is loved by many for the rich textures, patterns and details of her feminine and glamorous designs. Special occasion pieces will be in store. Melanie is wearing a pair of dangling crystal earrings from Lush Jewelry by Gibsonville, NC-based designer Ashley Westcott. Her white and gold detailed clutch is from Big Buddha handbags, a division of Steve Madden brands.
- Tricia (model two) shows off a career-classy navy printed jersey dress from analili. This newer designer has a corporate showroom in Miami. Their bold prints and travel-happy jersey fabrics are fantastic for big nights out and vacation fun. Tricia’s wallet/clutch is from Big Buddha. Her earrings are fleur-inspired brushed gold danglers from Mollybeads.
- Michelle (model three) is wearing a silk top and white knit skort from Annie Griffin Collection. We are very excited to bring Annie Griffin to the Avenue, where her classy, vivid prints and flattering shapes are sure to wow everyone who walks through our doors. Michelle loved her outfit so much she planned to wear it off the set and to a day event following the show. On Orlando My Way, we paired her ensemble with gold hoop earrings from Mollybeads and a Big Buddha turquoise handbag worn in the cross-body style—a great color to bring out some of the pattern in the top.
Although the segment was short and we didn’t have much time to give details about the boutique, we were thrilled to be able to introduce some of our Scout & Molly’s styles.
